Is Kemper Infinity insurance good? ›

Bottom Line: Is Infinity Insurance a Good Company? Overall, Infinity Insurance is a below-average insurance company, given its high premiums and mediocre customer service record. The company does rank well in terms of financial stability, though. It's also owned by Kemper.

Currently, Kemper is no longer writing new policies or renewing high-risk insurance policies in California. Instead, they are referring customers to their Infinity brand. It's possible that Infinity will meet your needs, but it is also possible that it may not be the best option.

Infinity's slightly higher-than-average premiums could be because the company is geared toward high-risk drivers in California (where the average rate is higher than the national average, at $2,291 for full coverage).

The customers launched various lawsuits against Kemper and Infinity after learning the insurers were targeted by hackers, first in December and again in March. More than 5.8 million customers were affected in the December breach, and more than 324,000 were affected in the March breach, according to the motion.

Kemper put the business under strategic review last November to evaluate its options. “The decision to exit the business was made after thoughtful evaluation of our options and considered the most effective and efficient way to support our stakeholders,” said Kemper CEO Joseph P. Lacher Jr.

Insurer Kemper Corporation (Kemper) has exited preferred home and auto insurance, having moved to “actively reduce” the business immediately.
