Power Bestowal is the power to bestow powers to others.

So, uh my latest power was pretty weird- utterly broken some would say.

See, the power was called Power Bestowal, and it allowed me to, as the name suggests. Bestow powers to other people, which cost me a hell of a lot of points, but it was just so damn useful that I couldn't just not go with it, right?

Well, there was a little bit of a caveat that my power neglected to tell me, in that the powers it grants? Yeah, they're completely random and a one time thing.

Which is probably why it was as cheap as it even was, I mean... 10,000 PP for Power Bestowal? In hindsight, that was way too cheap.

Thankfully, it didn't cost me any PP for the powers I granted, but again, I couldn't control what powers I granted.

My first experiment with this power was with Scott. Mostly because I was hoping to give him maybe some sort of way to control his eye lasers?

But that didn't work when I touched him, and tried to will my Power Bestowal to work... well it didn't give me any options or anything.

"Oh f*ck." I muttered, as I felt something go into Scott's body, causing him to glow a crimson color.

"What? Did- did something go wrong? Did you fix my eyes?" He asked hopefully, as he opened his eyes, his glasses having been taken off beforehand.

And of course, a bright red beam was fired from his eyes, and he was forced to swiftly shut them, as I handed his ruby quartz glasses back to him.

"Alright, so that was a bust. What power did you give me?" He asked after a few moments, putting on a brave face despite the hope that he'd previously had.

I honestly felt pretty bad, here I was saying that I could maybe fix his issues with his eyes... and instead, I could have given him like- the power to become a frog or something useless like that.

"Uh, well from what I can tell?" I said as I tried to use my Power Bestowal power to figure out what he was given... but I didn't have a clue, "I- I'll be honest, I don't have a clue."

"What do you mean, you don't have a clue? Isn't this your power?" He demanded, a worried look gracing his features, as he stared at me. Or at least I assumed that he was doing, on account of the bright red glasses obscuring his eyes.

"It's Power Bestowal, not... Power Sight or whatever. I bestow powers, I don't know what those powers are. I'm sorry Scott, but hey! Chin up, you still have your lasers, so at least it isn't something like... Self-Power Nullification- ah wait you'd have liked that. Never mind, pretend I said nothing."

He just gave me an annoyed look, before eventually throwing up his hands and leaving.

The very next day, Scott Summers died, killed in a fight with the Brotherhood of Mutants when Avalanche caused a tremor in the ground underneath the X-Men and Cyclops... well he landed wrong, his neck impacting with a jagged rock. I remembered hearing a sickening crack, as Jean stared at his body in horror.

From what the coroner said... he was killed nearly instantly.

We buried him in the back of the X-Mansion, mourning him all the while.

It... we- it wasn't supposed to go like this. It wasn't supposed to go like this at all.

Scott was the leader of the f*cking X-Men, how- he couldn't have died. He shouldn't have died. This was going all to sh*t. If he could die? Then- then every scrap of metaknowledge I had was practically useless.

And that was terrifying to me. That was so goddamn terrifying- but... I had to soldier on, I was already a member of the X-Men, and that wasn't going to change. But what was, was my actions. With Scott dead, someone had to keep the team in line, and it wasn't like anyone else was up to the task.

Jean was practically catatonic, she hadn't even left her room once during the following week, as she was on the ground floor... she watched him die, and she heard his thoughts fading away into nothingness.

Kurt- he tried to joke around, tried to keep the mood light... but I could tell that he wasn't putting his whole heart into it.

Then there was Kitty, well she got angry. She completely ended anything that she could have had with Lance... he killed one of her friends after all, even with how much he apologized- it just wouldn't cut it. She became a one woman rage machine, training as much as she could to let out her aggression.

Evan, well he was mad. Not to the point of KItty, but I caught him in the Danger Room running himself ragged, as he created his bone spikes and trained in the art of swordsmanship from Logan- who didn't have much of a visible reaction, but he was definitely a lot more aggressive and made sure to make sure we were actually trained in combat.

Professor Munroe and Xavier didn't change that much, though I could tell that they were also feeling the loss of Cyclops, but they were putting on a calm facade for us... for the students.

And then, exactly one week later, a battered and somewhat bruised Scott came walking through the doors. Looking completely and utterly confused, muttering to himself about some sort of pain in his neck.

Jean was the first to act, her telepathy instantly allowing her to know that this was Scott... or at least it was someone who thought it was him.

But when we checked the grave in the back of the mansion? We found that there was a large hole in the casket, from Scott's concussive beams... and well, he was covered in dirt and grime. He must have crawled his way out of the grave.

You don't know just how much relief I felt... at first, I thought that this was some sort of AU where Scott had the Phoenix Force or something.

But that changed, when after he learned that he'd been dead for the past week, Scott instead of going to Jean... walked up to me first, and f*cking hugged me. Thanking me for using my power on him.

As apparently, it was that power that allowed him to actually live, or well... come back to life. It seemed that the power I gave him as some sort of resurrection.

Alright, so uh here's a little omake I made with the power Power Bestowal. I'm not 100% sure this is how it would canonically work, but I wanted to write a quick and easy workaround for how it wouldn't be ludicrously broken and even cheap enough to be believably bought... eventually.

And here is the power that I rolled for Scott Summers/Cyclops:

Self-Ressurrection. I rolled a 1d7, and he got a seven... so it took him a week to respawn, essentially.

Do let me know if you guys want me to do another one of these omakes, because this was legitimately kind of fun.

Couldn't think of a good title, so what you got is what you get.

Hey monyarm does this work for an omake?
