Where To Eat Near Termini Station In Rome (2024)

Rome’s Termini Station is the city’s main railway station and a bustling transportation hub at all hours of the day. Naturally, Termini also has a thriving ecosystem of shops, eateries and accommodation in its vicinity. Try our eight favorite restaurants and bakeries around this much traversed, and often misunderstood, area of Rome.

1. Trattoria Monti

Restaurant, Diner, Italian

Trattoria Monti is not only a great restaurant in the vicinity of Termini Station: it is one of the best restaurants in the entire city. A family-owned restaurant run by two brothers, it specializes in cuisine from Italy’s Le Marche region, so you’ll have the chance to sample creative menu items that go beyond typically pasta and pizza dishes. Try the giant ravioli with oozing egg yoke or zucchini flan with squash sauce. The trattoria is compact and slightly upscale, so it’s nice for an intimate dinner.

2. Trattoria Vecchia Roma

Restaurant, Romanian

For a unique dining experience, why not have your pasta flambeed in a giant Parmesan wheel? With two varieties to choose from, Bucatini Amatriciana Flambè and Spaghetti Parmigiana Flambè, you have various ways to enjoy this theatrical creation that coats each noodle with extra cheesy flavor. As you might have gathered from its name (which means ‘old woman’), this restaurant has indeed been around for a long time: it has been cooking up Roman specialties since 1916, and it has an extensive menu and traditional decor for a classic meal.

3. Forno Roscioli Pietro

Bakery, Deli, Pastry Shop, Pastries

For a taste of Roscioli’s famed pizza Bianca, or focaccia, you don’t need to trek all the way to the historic center. One of the Roscioli cousins has opened a bakery beside Piazza Vittorio that sells a variety of quality products for a takeaway lunch or snack. From deli meats and cheeses to carbs in all fashions and succulent desserts, you’ll satiate any foodie desire. It also has an abundant tavola calda, hot table, with prepared lasagna, legume salads, meat dishes and sautéed vegetables.

Pasticceria Regoli

Regoli is a 100-year-old bakery that is famed for its artisanal sweets, so show up early or you’ll miss out on its glorious treats. The cream tart topped with dozens of wild strawberries is one of the bakery’s most praised items, but you can’t go wrong with any of the classics, from millefoglie and profiteroles to fruit tarts and decadent whipped-cream filled maritozzi. If you need to impress a friend with dessert, order one of their beautiful start-shaped millefoglie cakes filled with cream and topped with strawberries.

4. Panella

Bakery, Cafe, Coffee Shop, Italian, Pastries

This chic combination of bakery, coffee bar and food market is a great place at all hours of the day, from cappuccino at breakfast to craft co*cktails in the evening. Be sure to ask for a dollop of eggy zabaione in your coffee for an extra kick. At aperitivo hour they have a decadent array of savory foods for an elegant pre-dinner snack. And if you’re on the hunt for a bread replica of the Colosseum, Panella has a few on show to demonstrate just how excellent their bread-making skills are.

5. Come Il Latte

Come Il Latte

One of the creamiest gelaterie in Rome is Come Il Latte. The cream flavors are made with 60-70 per cent milk, so they are luscious and the gelato truly melts in your mouth. Come Il Latte has a wide range of flavors, including salted caramel, rice with cinnamon, chocolate with amaretto cookies and fruit flavors such as mandarin, date and chestnut. It also has two chocolate fountains (white and dark chocolate), so pick which one you’d like drizzled in your cone and enjoy the decadent experience.

6. Pinsere

Pinsere

This small, bustling eatery serves up a wide variety of different types of pinsa, an oval-shaped personal pizza that is lauded for its flavor, chewiness and ‘digestibility.’ Pinsere makes some of the best in the city, and is a convenient spot for a quick stand-up lunch while you’re on the go. It’s only open until 4pm on weekdays, so plan accordingly to sample this tasty treat.

The meals are vegetarian and/or vegan and use healthy, organic and local ingredients, offering a great way to mingle with an international crowd of expats and travelers passing through the city.
