It was too much fun being on Timmy Bauer's podcast. His takeaways here are brilliant, but give it a listen if you're launching a book now or in the future.

You are so right. I published at 19 and literally just went upload manuscript to Amazon + cover and description - hit publish. In the same day. Then sat back expecting something to happen. Bearing in mind at the time I had no social media, had told no one besides my mum that I was an author, and generally didn't know what I was doing.I mean... kinda went okay, but that's mostly thanks to the fact that I learnt by signing up for social media and then screaming at other authors to help me figure this out.

This Is Why I Don’t Offer Proofreading 🤦♂️ ..."Let me help you navigate the complex world of nonfiction boom creation.""Boom creation!?"🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ But also😂😂😂This sentence has been up on my "hire me" page for quite awhile now. I hope no one noticed. But if they did, oh well. Two reasons why I slept like a big ol' baby last night after spotting this error:1. I'm not a proofreader, and I make it clear that I don't offer this service. Hire me as a ghostwriter, I suggest you hire a copyeditor/proofreaderHire me as a big-picture editor, same as above.2. We all make mistakes. I hope that if anyone caught this on my site that they didn't immediately write me off. If they did? Well, there's nothing I can do about that.I firmly believe we should put our best work forward. As an editor and author, I shouldn't make these mistakes. But I will make them; I'm human. We're all just doing the best we can. Cheers to your next major error... May it teach you something. I know I have many more such errors in my future. But I choose to embrace them. What is your most embarrassing story and what did it teach you?-Jordan---🔥 I'm Jordan,#ghostwriterand big-picture#editor. What should I charge for my ________!?...One of the toughest questions for any freelancer, business owner, or the online entrepreneur...What should I charge for my offer?Charge based on time, experience, and value. Level 1: Charge for your timeYou deserve to be compensated for the time you spend doing the work. Level 2: Charge for your experience/expertiseYou've done this for X amount of years. This experience alone brings a ton to the table. Level 3: Charge for your valueYour value is how much you care, how hard you're willing to work, and how much energy you will bring to the project/service/coaching. If you bring your full value to the table... Cool shhtuff happens. Level billion: Figure out how to perfectly combine time, expertise, and value.I'm not here to tell you that you should charge more or less; that's for you to decide. (Although, freelancers and even some business owners typically undervalue their offerings.)Charge for your time, your experience, and your value. What you charge doesn't have to be up to industry standards as long as you feel good about it. (Unpopular opinion)Again, this is for you to decide. On the flip side, what you charge doesn't have to be limited by these same industry standards. Shoot for the moon if you have the time, expertise, and value to knock it out of the park. Charge for your services based on these three factors. NOT based on what someone else charges...NOT based on industry standards...NOT based on limiting beliefs of your own value...Charge based on your time, your experience, and your value.Nuff said? How do you decide what to charge?-Jordan---🔥 I'm Jordan,#ghostwriterand big-picture#editor. Do the thing you "have no business doing" 💪...I had "no business" writing my first book in 2016.I had "no business" joining a bootcamp workout program and upgrading my fitness back in 2018. My wife and I had "no business" moving countries DURING a freakin' pandemic. You have "no business" doing your next big thing. Do it anyways. Do it with confidence. Soar to greater heights than you ever thought possible. The only good excuse is a dead excuse. Do the thing you want to do, the thing that ↘️every beat of your heart...every bit of your blood-to-the-brain gumption...Every zapping pulse of deep-seated desire is urging you to do. We'll clap for you very step of the way. What impossible are you reaching for today?-JordanPS: Pic of me from 2019. My side quest for this summer is getting back to that level of fitness!PPS: I look angry, but that's actually akin to the focused-writing face I make 90 of my day. ---🔥 I'm Jordan Ring,#ghostwriterand big-picture#editor. Why I Put My Book in Timeout 👉❌ ...I didn't look at my book draft for all of April. It was challenging...Actually, it was kind of painful 😭 I wanted to get in there and work on it!Writing is my passion and purpose!Luckily, I had client projects to work on in the meantime, but man, it was still tough because I'm so pumped about this book.I found myself lost on a quiet Sunday afternoon without a book to work on...What was this writer supposed to do!? But the time passed quickly enough. Now I've been back in it, and I'm SO glad I let it sit.I'm looking at each chapter with fresh eyes:🔥 Questioning every decision/direction/divulgement 🔥 Laughing at myself for poor examples and unrelated side tangents (Delete, delete, delete!)🔥 Pleasantly surprised by the work I've doneThis is an "easy" step writers should take, but it's not really easy at all. Practice this in a small way by letting your writing breathe for your LinkedIn posts. Get a draft written, go comment on a few posts, and come back. Even better if you can let the post sit for a whole day, but I don't do that, so I can't recommend it. Often when we come back to our writing we find that we didn't say what we wanted to say. Like, at all...We didn't communicate clearly. We had 500 words of nonsense. Make your writing better by getting the words out, leaving them alone for a time, and then coming back with fresh eyes. Have you tried this strategy?-Jordan---🔥 I'm Jordan Ring, #ghostwriter and big-picture #editor. Are You Joining the Hustle This Weekend? 💪💻...I support anyone who wants to hustle. Why?Because sometimes you need to say no to all the fun stuff in life to chase bigger dreams. I would not have my dream "job", live in the best city in the world, and have the freedom to work when and how I want if I said yes to everything else. It takes hustle to reach your dreams. Maybe you need to give up going out on Friday night and spend time on your work in progress?Maybe you need to spend Saturday morning meditating and dreaming big instead of nursing a hangover?Maybe you need to spend Sunday afternoon writing/designing/planning/connecting/posting while everyone else is napping or watching football? Some people want the results without having to do the work. You know what I do most Friday nights and Sunday afternoons?I write. I continue to put in the work to build my empire. Working till your eyeballs bleed is NOT a long-term strategy, but it's a required down payment toward reaching your dreams. I'm not better than anyone else. I'm not all that great in any major way. But I don't quit. This is my superpower. And you can access it too. The only thing that will stop us is if we stop. So, let's never stop. Cheers to what some would consider a boring work weekend...While we consider it pure joy!-JordanPS: Pic: In NC and walking the 5 miles to Starbucks on a weekend for fun and to get a few hours of hustle in. ---Go to my featured section.
