What we do
We provide hotel lodging to familiy members of injured or sick military personnel being treated at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
We also provide lodging to active duty families with a child admitted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital when lodging is not possible at the Ronald McDonald House.

We also support and manage the Toys for Tots campaign for Pitt and Martin Counties in North Carolina. Our objective is to ensure no child in the local community goes without a Christmas toy.
Detachment members distributed thousands of toys during the 2009 campaign.

Support Detachment 1186!

We have partnered with Texas Roadhouse in Greenville, NC to raise funds for Detachment 1186.
How it works - print the flyer and take it with you on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Make sure to hand the flyer to your server and Detachment 1186 will receive a 10% donation based on the total cost of your bill. For example, you spend $30 - the Detachment receives a $3 donation.

Recent News
Detachment 1186 received generous funding from the Pitt County Memorial Foundation and the Greenville Noon Rotary. To date, the Home Away from Home Program has provided 114 nights of lodging to family members of injured or ill service personnel or to active duty families with a child admitted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
